why I think photos and videos matter

  • memory is unreliable. our brain compresses years into a blur. a photo anchors a specific afternoon, a specific laugh, a specific version of someone's face. think of how many stories you remember so well because you’ve seen pictures of it?

  • people change faster than we can register. especially kids. look at this video. I took it in 2025. the kids have already changed so much compared to last year.
    everything is temporary.

  • photos/videos are evidence of connection. how people were with each other. the specific way a father laughs at his daughter's joke, or two friends hugging.

  • photos and videos become more valuable with time. it means almost nothing the day it's taken. but it’s worth accumulates invisibly, and then suddenly matters enormously.
